Proclamation WELCOMING THE STUDENTS AND FACULTY FROM THE AMAKI SCHOOL OF KURASHIKI, JAPAN WHEREAS, the
student exchange program that exists between The Barstow School of Kansas City,
Missouri and the Amaki School of Kurashiki, Japan benefits both schools and
both cities; and WHEREAS, for one
week, from September 27, 2014 to October 5, 2014, ten students from the Amaki
School visited The Barstow School; and WHEREAS, the Amaki
School of Kurashiki, Japan is designated as a “Super Science School” in Japan
and receives significant funding from their government to enhance its excellent
math and science programs; and WHEREAS, the
students who visited The Barstow School came to experience America and also to
collaborate with Barstow students and faculty on a variety of projects; and WHEREAS, this
exchange fosters and encourages cultural awareness and explores and promotes
new thought and ideas which benefit all involved; and WHEREAS, the faculty
and students from the Amaki School visiting The Brstow School are: faculty Ms.
Miho Takenaka, administrator Ms. Yoshika Yamasaki and students Ms. Sayaka
Kumazawa, Ms. Sato Shima, Ms. Yuka Yamamoto, Ms. Momo Sato, Mr. Ryuto Aoba, Mr.
Kenta Uchida, Mr. Yusuke Kawai, Mr. Yasuaki Sadakane, Ms. Suzuka Okuyama, Ms.
Yuika Hirata. NOW, THEREFORE, I,
Sylvester James, Mayor of the City of Kansas City, Missouri, on behalf of the
citizens of this great city and the City Council, do hereby welcome the
visiting faculty and students from the Amaki School of Kurashiki, Japan to The
Barstow School and to Kansas City, Missouri in the hopes that this experience
enriches all participants’ lives.
